I am a photographer and am looking to replace my Microsoft Surface Pro that I travel with. All I need is a computer that will allow me to utilize its USB port to transfer files from my memory card to an external hard drive. Is it possible with a Chromebook running on a Chrome OS to simply copy files from a memory card to an external USB drive? I have a USB hub to which the memory card reader and the external USB drives connect.

Yes, there is a files app that can be used to move and copy files from one drive to another. Whether it will work well for you is likely going to be determined by the external drive you have. Some of the older ones really want external power instead of just what the USB port provides. Once you have done it a few times you will find it's as easy as when done on a Windows machine. You can drag and drop or copy and paste…
