A few days ago my sons laptop suddenly started performing really slowly…unusable when typing etc.
Its a Swift 3 SF314-43 with AMD Ryzen 5 5500OU processor, 8GB RAM running Windows 11 Home edition.
On closer inspection, the CPU is operating at 0.4GHz nothing seems to make a difference. this is what we've tried.
Updated windows to latest build.
Updated the BIOS to latest version 1.08 (when updating fan ran very fast…so its not the cpu throttling because the fan isn't working.
Updated chipset to latest version.
Tried CMOS battery reset.
Disconnected the battery, it ran the same when using mains power.
Altered UEFI and booted to Linux on flash drive - CPU's ran at 1.4GHz. So the CPU's can run faster.
I'm now clutching at straws and trying the Windows insider programme, although not holding out much hope!
Anyone got any ideas, what I've missed (apart from reimage and use Linux)
Thanks
