Why doesn't Thunderbolt work on the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58?

If I insert a thunderbolt-compatible stick into the laptop, it reads it for about a minute and then stops reading it.
A while ago I got that error for thunderbolt on "Device Manager", but after several attempts at rewinding it no longer appears.
I would like a solution for this problem!

  • Have you checked if tbt device is enabled in the bios? What is the bios version? What is the stick model?

The bios is version 1.13. I enabled the setting for thunderbolt and it still does. The stick is Kingston DT70 128GB. The stick is functional because I inserted it into an Asus laptop with a USB-C port. I will try to update the bios maybe it will work.

I updated the BIOS and it's still doing that, I still have to install that driver for the stick

  • The AN515-58 has a TBT4 / USB4 which the Kingston DataTraveler 70 USB-C is a 3.2 Gen 1 should be compliant with your laptop. This Kingston drive has nothing to do with your laptops Thunderbolt driver, as the TB port is for both image and data and the Kingston 70 is a data USB-C which should work as a plug and play with your AN515-58.

Btw, I've got an Nitro AN515-56 that has TBT4/USB4 port on the right side and I'm using an external drive case with a WD SN530 PCIe3x4 512GB M.2 SSD drive and this external drive connects with a USB-C cable to the laptop, with no problems and it works perfectly, so your AN515-58 should also work 100% with that Kingston URB-C 3.2 Gen 1 drive perfectly.

Go to Disk Management and see if this Kingston DataTraveler 70 USB-C is showing as a detected drive and its initialized and has a drive letter like "D", as that could be the problem why its not being recognized and disappears.

Also try to update the TBT4 driver for Win-11, go to Device Manager > System devices > Thunderbolt Controller - 9A1B and then right click this > Properties > Driver and see the version that you have, as the last Win-11 TBT4 driver is Version – 1.41.1340.0, < download this new TBT4 driver and update your TBT4 version for future TB devices, also be aware that the TB has its own Thunderbolt Control Centre that you can bring up by searching for it. I've done all the above and the USB-C on my laptop works for both image and data, which yours should also.
