Hi, I own a AN515-58-53UK. Today I bought an SSD to upgrade the storage as the laptop came with only the 500 GB. I bought a WD_Black SN850X 1 TB ssd. I installed it in the 2nd slot of the laptop, but the system does not see it at all. It does not show in BIOS, I also tried adding it to the main slot, still nothing. Theoretically it should be compatible. Can anyone help? Thank you im advance.

    @Legalon the laptop should recognize it if it is installed correctly.

    If you do so and still don't show up in the BIOS, go to the BIOS, navigate to the Main tab, and try to disable the VMD controller. (Also, you have to enable booting into safe mode in the msconfig. Restart to normal mode after booting into safe mode)

    @AnhEZ28 , thank you for your answer. The SSD should be installed correctly, it basically just plug in. I enabled safe mode from msconfig, but then after that the laptop is not booting at all, showimg that no bootable device is found, both with the VMD enabled and disabled. As soon as I took out the new SSD, the laptop started normally, in safe mode. (And VMD enabled as I panicked and restored defaults in BIOS.) After this I put in the new SSD again, and I got the same error again with no bootable device found and the laptop not starting.

    Interestingly, the no bootable device error should not happen when adding a new SSD. Did you move the factory SSD at all?

    @AnhEZ28 I did move it earlier today, just to test if the new SSD would work in it's place, but after I put it back, the laptop worked normally, with the new ssd inside as well, but without the system seeing it

    @Legalon

    when you move the factory SSD to the 2nd slot and plug the new SSD to the 1st slot, does BIOS show both SSDs or only 1?

    @AnhEZ28 would it be ok to try and start with VMD disabled, not in safe mode, with both SSDs'? What was the reason you recommended starting in safe mode?

    @Legalon does the Windows still boot with the factory SSD in the 2nd slot?

    Try to contact the place that you bought the SSD from to let them retest the SSD or exchange it for a new one.

    Because disabling the VMD controller will switch the SATA driver. If it is just disabled, the Windows will not boot and give the BSOD with INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE code. Going into the safe mode first and restarting will solve the BSOD issue.
