First, about the source. I'm in my 83rd year and have been using a personal computer since 1982. Since I am chronically unemployed I don't need a computer for work. I do not play games, do not watch moviesand do not do social media. I've been using Chromebooks since before android apps were possible.
That said, I used and was quite happy with my Spin 713 for years, updating as new 713s came out. My old computers go to students. The 714 was being plugged as the new 713 and I bought one. It was a big mistake for me. I didn't like the display at all. After years of using the 3:2 display I didn't realize how unhappy I'd be with the 714 display. I also thought they might have used the extra width on the device to expand the keyboard but they didn't. A friend had a son finishing high school and going to college so I gave him the 714. It will certainly see him through the first year or two and maybe till he gets a degree if he doesn't decide on engineering or a course where the professor requires his software.
Then I bought a Spin 513 with the Kompanio chip. I'm using it and my old Spin 713 now. I have to say I like both. Except for the Kompanio chip instead of Intel, the 513 is a 713. I would say the 713 with the Core i5 chip edges out the Kompanio but for what I do, including editing photographs, it's great. I take a lot of photos but I don't do videos.
The 3:2 screen is by far my favorite and for some reason I type better on the 513 than the 714.
Just my 2 cents worth inspired by all the opinions saying the Spin 714 is wonderful.
