    Hi,

If you have the RTX3050 graphics card, the second slot is for Gen 3 M.2 SSD but you can also use a Gen 4 SSD in this slot because Gen 4 SSD is backward compatible with Gen 3 SSD slot, it will run at Gen 3 speeds.

If you have RTX3070 or RTX3080 graphics card, you can use Gen 4 M.2 SSDs in both slots, so could you please tell us the graphics card in your model and the generation of your original M.2 SSD.

Yes, you can install the original SSD in the second slot, if it's a Gen 4 SSD, it will run at Gen 3 speeds, so I would suggest you migrate the contents of the original SSD to the new Gen 4 SSD in the first slot, you can use Macrium reflect free or similar program to clone the original SSD to the new Gen 4 SSD, once you are happy with the cloning, you have to format the original SSD and use it for additional storage.
