Discovered an SATA cable in box containing my newly purchased ACER TC-1760…what is this for? No list of contents/insts included w/box.

    The Aspire TC-1760 desktop can have 3x 3.5" or 2.5" SATA HDDs or SATA SSDs drives and the additional cable is provided in case you want to add an additional 3.5" or 2.5" drives, Acer does this for laptops also with providing a kit for additional 2.5" drives, providing a SATA cable, bracket and screws, this is very normal.

    they probably gave you an extra in case you want to add another HDD?
