Hello Acer Community,

Computer model - Aspire AV15-51 (oddly 12GB of ram likely soldered some sources said 16)
This is my first proper computer and I would like an upgrade to my computer. It seems I have ran into an impasse and need your help. I would like to know if there is a possible option for an upgrade to my computer such as Ram or Ssds. I have did my studies but it seems I have conflicting sources. So there is a few things I would like to know.
1. Can I install ECC Ram or not.
2. Can I do dual channel Ram?
3. How much GB of Ram can I install without it bottle necking or it starts being useless
4. What type of Ssd I should use and what is the Maximum speed for an ssd I can buy for my laptop. (Give the specs of ssd and please give me recommendations)
Thanks,

Jeff

These are the Acer Aspire AV15-51 laptops service guide specs for either this laptops DDR4 4GB or 8GB soldered onboard ram. This laptop has a 1x removable ram socket that can be upgraded and can have a max total memory as shown below in the Memory Combinations of AVLC table, which is for both for the 4GB onboard ram model that has a max total capacity of 20GB or for the 8GB onboard ram model that has a max total capacity of 24GB ram at DDR4-2666MHz.

For the M.2 SSD drives, this laptop max speeds are of the PCIe3 x4 speeds of which the Samsung 970 Plus NVMe or the WD 750 Black NVMe (with its Dashboard setting set to Gaming Mode) are the quickest read/write drives, so consider these two drives for performance improvements also.

hmmm I do not see it on the manual it is a AV15-51-58SM I just found out also crucial says other wise with the 5155 model as it is a gen 4 m.2 as fast as the 990 with speeds of 5000mbs to 7000mbs. IDK what to to exactly here.so the board ddr4 ram is 3200MT/S and the removable slots are 2666MT/S?
