Safe to add 2nd M.2 and upgrade RAM? would I have to resort to something specific?

So I recently upgraded to a Acer Nitro 17 and wanted to upgrade the space in it and thanks to this video where I saw that there was a second M.2 slot I could use. That said, it looks like the M.2 rests right above a ribbon cable, so I was wondering if others imagined it was a safe upgrade to make. I kind of expect it isn't problematic since the option is clearly available, but I didn't know if the layout was common or if it was possible for it to be problematic in the future, especially since I know some M.2's can run hot and I was planning on using a sn850x without a heatsink.

In addition, I see that there is black taping around the RAM and SSD already installed that I presume is serving as insulation. Should I consider using a similar material as well or could I install them as is without worry?Lastly, attempting to find what RAM is compatible for this machine seems to be a bit of a chore. Perhaps I am simply looking in the wrong places or overthinking it since I have never upgraded RAM in a laptop before. Would I be able to use any DDR5 laptop RAM or would I have to resort to something specific?

Support for up to 32 GB DDR5-4800 (2x DIMMs), recommend 2x16GB for Dual Channel mode.
You have 2x M.2 PCIe gen4 2280 slots and a NVMe SSD up to 1TB is recommended (WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe), no issues with the slot under the ribbon cable.

What is the exact model number of your Nitro laptop, as saying Acer Nitro 17 means nothing, is it the new AN17 or PH517 as there are allot of different Nitro model laptops, can't give you an exact answer if you don't especially on the memory specs and max capacity..

If your Nitro model is one of the newest Nitro laptops like the NS17-71 or the NS17-51 or the NS17-41 models, they all have 2x M.2 SSD slots at Gen4 x4 type drives like below:

The new Nitro AN17-XX laptops have the M.2 boot drive at #1 slot below and the 2nd slave drive M.2 slot at #2, like illustrated below:

Thanks for the comments and the specifics. Apologies on not stating the direct model number (AN17-41-R7GT). Thankfully enough my worries about the 2nd slot being above the cable are cleared and the RAM specifications are exactly as I had hoped for the RAM kit I purchased.

Good evening, I bought a Nitro AN17-51 and 2 ssd to create a raid array, but no matter how I set up the BIOS (Ctrl + s, and through the Fn+tab advanced menu), the raid did not work, maybe someone managed to tell me what to do, Acer Nitro AN17-51-71kz bios version 1.05, Thank you!!!

The Nitro AN17-51 can have an SSD RAID Array Type 0 with this laptops drive provisions of 1 TB / 2 TB PCIe4 x4 NVMe type M.2 SSD drives. In my opinion, you are wasting your drives and efficiency of this new quick PCIe 4x4 laptops by using Raid Array! These laptops PCIe 4x4 M.2 SSD drives don't need Raid Array as a raid array will give you a bit more speed but, you don't need Raid 0 Array setups if you lose one drive you will lose all your data.

Don't waste your 2x M.2 SSD slots and drives and capacity, on a silly Raid Array setup you don't need it, leave your new and quick Nitro AN17-51 laptops hard drives alone and oem and use the 2x M.2 SSD slots for their intended quick 4th Gen M.2 SSD drive(s) like the quickest Samsung 990 Pro NVMe or the WD SN850X Black drives, as they are quick enough and much more reliable than the Raid 0 or any raid Array setup! This laptop has 2x M.2 SSD slots that you can use a boot drive of 2TB M.2 SSD and in its slave M.2 SSD slot you can upgrade to a 2TB or even a 4TB M.2 SSD drive, which is plenty of data storage for a laptop.

The AN17-51 M.2 SSD lots - Left A Slot is the boot drive M.2 slot, and the Right A Slot is the slave M.2 slot, that are specially insulated with thermal pad material to reduce heat, with a heat shield that is built into the bottom cover case of the laptop also.
