Orion 5000 PO5-640 cpu fan question (replacement)

Hey, me again.

Got one more thing to fix on this PC to make it perfect. The 4090 which i used to replace my 3080 is working great, the new PSU as well. However, the last big issue i have is the CPU FAN. It's terrible, i'm guessing it's the stock intel one? EDIT : Is it even the intel stock one? Just had a thought that it might not be considering all the other "custom" acer fans and whatnot. Problem is, between certain RPMS it makes a whirring sound which is horrible. Only "fix" i found that works 90% of the time is to set the CPU fan to 70% fixed via PredatorSense, anything less makes it whirr and auto is all over the place; it's also not a perfect solution since it's still quite noisy and not "smooth".

Was wondering if any of you guys know a cpu fan (was thinking noctua) that would work and be compatible with the intel fan heatsink. As in not a full cpu fan replacement (fan+heatsink), since i dont feel confident enough to remove/repaste and everything, instead i would like to just replace the intel fan with a noctua one. Is it possible?

any 120mm pc fan will work, just use the highest rpms you can right now to see if that even helps, Noctua only has 1 version that's 3000 rpms and 120mm on their site, and since you replaced the PSU and GPU the cooler isn't any harder, so when you are ready get it, your system needs it now, nothing else will cool it as good, even if you get 2x120mm fans on the top rack as exhaust that won't do what a new cooler will, but it will help, so if you can afford it get 3 of those fans and see what that does with CPU temps.

the best one for your pc is the same one i use, the Noctua NH-U12A, its a beast and outperforms the larger Noctua NH-D15 !!@!! and run predator sense in gaming mode, it will help, mines always that way when benchmarking and gaming, and get the new BIOS update from windows update, they unlocked XMP, now I'm getting 4800@64 gigs of ddr5 from crucial, and fans up top for exhaust are a must, and also removing the HDD caddy it blocks all air from the lower fan, and that's all i can think of for now GL and post pics, keep us updated, i was a noob when i did mine a year ago, its easy, do not worry about it, the directions tell you step by step and there are videos on YT also, trust me you can do it, the only fan you could add to possibly see if it would help using the existing heatsink would be a Noctua 3000rpm 120mm fan, and arctic makes a 3300 rpm one !!@!!

Oh so a noctua 120mm fan would work then? Should it be a specific type of cooler with a certain voltage type? Think i read that they can have different voltages depending on what kind of fan it is.

Yeah i know about thhe NH-U12A but dont really feel like trying, even though i know there's plenty of vids out there showing it and in theory its pretty easy, just not in the mood to mess something up right now.

hey - sorry to bother you - but was is mandatory to use a backplate or something? i have read here in the forum that its not easy to use backplates on the predator 5000 series (i have like zero expierence with PC building but i have to rescue my CPU :P)

if you do not want to remove the motherboard and use the Noctua supplied backplate you do not have to, i didn't and most don't, the one that's their works great but ya need to use 4-3x10mm screws to mount it that's all, it's really easy and simple, if u need any more help ask away I'm always here, what model 5000 do you have and what cooler are you getting?

at the moment im completely clueless - the cooler you mentioned above looks good - but like all people on youtube use a plate on the back of the motherboard - do you maybe have a video to see how to install the cooler like you did? :)

nope i just did it like i was told by a few others here that installed it before me, on YT they always show using the supplied backplate because they are putting it on a new MB then into the case, all you're going to use is the backplate that's already there ok, ya just need 4 screws that are 3mmx10mm.
