my laptop turned off mid game and I’ve been trying to fix it for the past hour (when I plug it into the charger the charging light doesn’t light up), I’ve tried opening it up and finding the pin hole that I’ve seen on other pages but couldn’t find it nor could I open up the back. The laptop is just unresponsive in general, I’ve alr made sure that it wasn’t a power or outlet problem so I assume it’s an internal problem anyone know how to fix?

Depending if your laptop is still under warranty you have to open up the back to reset the battery and do the Power Drain procedure. Opening up the laptop would void that warranty. Alternatively bring/send the laptop to Acer Services in your country for repairs.

Just in addition and if your laptop is not under warranty, as it would have helped if you stated the exact Predator Helios laptop model number, which is on the back of the laptop on a sticker and it shows your laptops model number which should be like this PH315-xx or PH517-xx, as by knowing this, we could giving you a more detailed answer.

Anyway, in a sudden shut down of a laptop like you have experienced, there could be many issues that could of gone wrong, like super IO, chipset and bios chip freezes, primary power circuitry issues or at worst it could be a cpu or a gpu that has burned out and that entails a motherboard change.

The first thing that you should do is to try and do a basic reset, press the POWER key for 10 seconds and then release the key and then press the power key again and see if the laptop turns on?

If the above basic reset doesn't work, then you need to do a Hard Reset, take the main battery out, disconnect the rtc/bios battery (small black battery) then get a paper clip and short this rtc/bios battery +&- pins with a paper clip to reset the CMOS and then take the ram out, leave the laptop like that for 15min then reconnect everything and try to reboot, as this should reset the super IO, chipset and bios chips and your laptop should boot.

If the resets don't work, then you need to take your laptop to either Acer in your country and area or to an experienced technician that has the microscopic tools and parts toi fix your laptop,. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

My current model is the 315-53-72XD

and about the hard reset I have a question on what you mean by “short this rtc/bios battery. If you could try to explain what you mean by that then it’s be helpful

Your PH315-53 RTC/BIOS battery plugs into a plug of your motherboard (see caption below) where the batteries red wire is the + and the black wire is the - you need to get a paper clip or any thin conductive metal object to short those 2x pins out monetarily, this will reset the CMOS after you have unplugged the battery, that is what I mean.

I think I need to send it to the acer shop, I held a screw drive between the -&+ for 15 seconds then removed the ram and let it sit for 20 minutes then plugged the ram and battery back in and there’s still no response.

(When I plug my charger in there isn’t even the blue/orange light which normally lets me know if it’s charging or not.)
