Hello everyone,

I've had my Acer Predator for a while now, it always worked perfectly fine, with 2 1080P monitors, both connected through DisplayPort (to HDMI) on my GTX 980.

Recently I've decided to upgrade to 2 4K monitors. One is currently connected through the only HDMI port. I can't connect the second one yet, as I found out that my DisplayPort cable only supported 1080P. I've ordered a new cable (DP → HDMI again), which should arrive shortly, but I am now wondering if it's actually possible to connect 2 4K monitors to this (quite outdated) GPU?

I've found several mixed comment online. Some people say only one 4K monitor is possible, other says up to 4 (3x DP, 1x HDMI) is possible, so I'm getting anxious that I've bought new screens & cables, all to find out that my GPU doesn't even support this…

On another note, as I mentioned, I now have 1 4K monitor connected, and from time to time, the screen goes black… The monitor says there is no longer input found on any of the channels. Plugging out the cable, and back in, doesn't change that. Only fix at this moment is to turn off the PC through the power button and back on, everything I was doing up to that point is lost of course… I've never had this issue with my old 1080P screen(s).

Anyone knows what could cause this? I'm sure it's not the monitor, as I'm also a Playstation 5 player, and I don't have the issue there.

Thanks for any tips or help!

from all my research online, only the GTX 980 Ti does 4k.

Remember that a lot of the older cards, when they do support 4K, support it at 30Hz, not 60Hz or faster. So you might have to run both 4K displays with the 30Hz flicker if it works at all.
