Is it possible to run a Switch Alpha 12 without a battery?

My battery swelled up like a balloon this week after an initial swell a few years ago and I want to remove it. I had been using it plugged in, and that seemed to be working OK. Now that it’s growing again I’m afraid it’ll break the screen. Can I remove the swollen battery and run the laptop plugged in all the time?

Thanks.

Not recommended because battery acts as a ballast to protect the mainboard from voltage spikes. New replacement battery packs are less than $40. Don't risk a battery fire, explosion, leakage or a mainboard failure trying to save $40.
