Acer Predator Orion 7000 PO7-640 Randomly Shutting Down

New to this community, unfortunately my first post is a major problem with my 2-weeks old Acer Predator.

I had been gaming with no issues until today. After About an hour of playing, the system randomly froze. Periphericals (screens/mouse/keyboard) were unresponsive but the computer kept running, and an in-game looping sound still played. I had to restart twice since the first time around the computer simply didn't boot.

Got back into gaming, and 10 minutes in it crashed again. I thought it might have something to do with overheating, so the third time around I had Predator Sense on to monitor the temperature. By the time it crashed 10 minutes in again, CPU/GPU temperatures were completely normal. I haven't opened the case, made any modifications or tried to overclock the CPU or the GPU. So now I'm at a loss.

Any ideas of what might be going on? Happy to provide more information if needed but I need to post before it crashes again lol

I will note that I did check drivers for updates, and turned off Hardware GPU Scheduler. The same crashes persist.

Crashing and Shutting down are different from a graphics app Hang. What you described is hanging or an unresponsive app. typically a GPU driver or low RAM issue, If you are on Windows11 with W10 drivers or a W10 app that may cause freezing. If you have a bad mechanical HDD that also can cause this. 3 things to check: Open Event Viewer and find out at the time of freezing what errors and warnings were reported, anything with Nvidia would hint to a GPU driver issue. Type in Search Security and Maintenance>Maintenance>Reliability monitor>Problem reports that will tell you about kernel and power issues. The open Device manager and check for Unknown Devices and Yellow exclamation marks, uninstall those rogue drivers including in Hidden Devices.

Finally restore your system image by pasting this line in the Command Prompt opened as administrator: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

This must complete, if DISM hangs, press Esc and rerun, Then paste this command:
SFC /scannow

This will repair your system files and must end with "Found no integrity violations" rerun SFC till OK.

The best way to restore your GPU adapters is in Safe Mode with DDU from Wagnardsoft.com, all uninstalling is automatic and after reboot Windows will install the best GPU drivers if your adapters are compatible with Windows10-11.

Indeed, the error is "nvlddmkm", event ID 14 - given reports online, it seems GPU related but every user seems to have different circumstances. The Reliability Monitor shows multiple hardware errors (LiveKernelEvent) and an unexpected shut down classed as blue screen.

My storage device is a Samsung NVMe SSD, factory with the build.

No unknown/rogue drivers spotted in Device Manager.

I'll work on the rest and report back in a bit.

Took all steps as advised. Crash happened about 10 minutes into gaming yet again, sounds kept playing. This time around screens flickered for a few seconds before going out. Same error message in Event Viewer as before.

How did the DISM and SFC commands complete?

Those HW problem reports in Reliability Monitor app are troublesome, I advise you to bring your desktop to Acer Services in your country, it may still be under warranty. You should have only a few Event errors and no Problem reports in Windows11 22H2 and I suspect a HW (GPU card) issue.

They completed without issues.

The computer came with one-year warranty and the store from which I bought has other units in stock, so I'll likely return the computer and get a replacement.

Puraw, i did all those tests on my PO5-640-UB11 just for the heck of it and i had all kinds of errors and one critical power-kernel failure when restarting my pc, so i ran the SFC option and it found and fixed all files, then i ran the Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and it completed and said successful, do i need to do anything else ? i know there is a full restore windows 11 option, where you can restore windows 11 but keep all my files, i wasn't sure if i need to run that now, or if im fine, please let me know, and ty for the tips n posting this, it helped me, you guys are so awesome !!@!!

You restored your image AFTER you repaired your system, you should first restore your image, then SFC will compare your system files with that new image and repair. Do it again, first DISM online (make sure your internet works) then SFC /scannow.
To see what files were repaired, in explorer open c:\windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log and scroll to the bottom it will show the corrupted files that were repaired by SFC.

That restore option in Windows11 is "Reset this PC without losing your files" just type Reset in the Search box. I think it is hardware, not software related, bring your desktop to the retailer or straight to Acer Services (better).😉

You shouldn't be experiencing any issues that DISM and SFC would be fixing with a machine that's this new. Is it always the same game that crashes, or can something else cause the crash as well? With it only being a couple of weeks old I'd go the replace with vendor route and only get into deeper diagnostics if the new one acts the same.

ok i did what ya said and this is what i got, i think im good now, i didn't have any issues i knew of, mine restarts and works great, none of my games crash etc, i just read your post and decided to check my pc out and noticed a few problems is all, so ty.

The files that were repaired by SFC will be for the previous job, this last job had no repairs. Scroll up to the date/time you did the repairs or use the Find option for "corrupt".
