How do I change refresh rate on Acer Nitro XZ342CUP monitor?

I have the Acer Nitro XZ342CUP monitor and it can perform 1440p and 144hz but in the monitor settings (not Windows settings) it says it only performs 100hz, how do I change it up to 144hz?

This may be a GPU adapter issue, have you tried a DP 1.4 cable? https://www.cablematters.com/Blog/DisplayPort/displayport-1-4-vs-1-2.

To change the refresh rate on a monitor in Windows, you can go to the Control Panel, click on System, then Display, and select the monitor you want to change. Alternatively, you can right-click on the desktop and go to Display settings > Advanced display settings, then select the Monitor tab and choose a refresh rate from the drop-down. In Settings, you can also click on System, then Display, and click the Advanced display settings link, followed by the Display adapter properties for Display 1 link. From there, you can select the Monitor tab and choose a refresh rate from the drop-down. After selecting the desired refresh rate, click Apply and then OK to save the changes. I meant the settings from the monitor, the buttons in the back of a monitor. In those settings it says the monitor is 100hz and I don't know how to change that.

You change that on the computer side. The monitor will only display what is sent to it.
