I noticed that this type of long straight charger connector can easily move/bend the laptop charging port if you accidentally hit it with your knee while the laptop is on your lap, or if it hits any object on the desk, as opposed to the 90 degree connector, which doesn't move even if you directly hit/push it, has anyone noticed that this type of long connector fails prematurely?

It should not, neither the straight nor an angled plug: Both type plugs should fit inside the DC jack firmly with a click (lock) when the pin is fully inserted. If you don't feel a click and the pin (barrel) of the plug is loose (bad contact) inside the DC port you are either using the wrong plug type or there is a bad connection inside the DC jack of your laptop. There are many adapters with angled plugs online, check the ID of your laptop DC jack carefully with a caliper tool, see if it is 7.4mm before ordering a new adapter.
