hello, I am an Acer Swift 3 SF314-42 AMD Ryzen 3 4300U user and I need to unscrew the screw for the SSD upgrade, but the standard bladescrewdriver fits for the gray screws on the right, while it does not fit for the black ones on the left. What is the name of this screw and which bit should I use?

    Hi,

You don't need to unscrew it to install M.2 SSD, that screw looks like part of hinge assembly, you need to unscrew the screw marked with red circle to upgrade SSD.

I think I couldn't explain myself. My English is not good, I'm sorry. I can't unscrew the screw in that red ring. The head of the screw is different, check the picture I posted and you'll understand. What type of screwdriver do I need?

It appears to be a Phillips type head screw, it is important to use a proper screwdriver to avoid damaging the screw.

    Thank you.
    All the best.

    Hi,

No problem, when you upgrade M.2 SSD, you need to remove only the screw I have marked, if you can not unscrew it, no point in unscrewing other screws, if you find it difficult to remove the screw, please take it to a laptop repair shop and a technician will be able to remove it and upgrade, otherwise contact Acer Support centre in your country and they may help you find an authorised Service centre near you, also watch this video in my link, mainly @0.55, it may help you.

A phillips #1 or #0 screwdriver will work in that screw, the one you are using is likely a #2, so slightly too big.

Hello, The black screws on the left side of your Acer Swift 3 SF314-42 are most likely Torx screws. You will need a Torx screwdriver or bit to unscrew them. The specific size required for your laptop may vary, but a commonly used size is T5.

The original poster was talking about the mounting screw for the M.2 drive, which is Phillips.
