Hi Everyone. I have the Nitro 5 AN515-55-53E5 and latrely I have noticed that if I play a game, after 30 minutes or so, if I use any key on the Q through P row of my keyboard (QWERTY), the screen will flash black. It will do this same thing a few more times, then the laptop just shuts off completely. I power back up and the game is still running, but paused. This issue never seemed to happen until around December 2022/January 2023 time frame. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause that? I upgraded the RAM to 16gb back in 2021 when I purcahsed the machine. I also added a 2 TB HDD drive at that time. Thank you.

Run the keyboard troubleshooter and reboot, if that does not help you have to restore your registry to 2022 before you first had these issues.

Type Create a Restore point in the Search bar and click on System restore at the top of that small window, then select a date before 2023, if you don't have any restore points you have to Reset this PC without losing your files (don't click on the next option Reset losing all your files).

When you added the 2.5" HDD into the AN515-55 optional 2.5" slot, did you make sure that the SATA cable was connected to the HDD FFC plug correctly and fully, as and if not, that could give you these black screens from a badly connected SATA cable, as that can also stop your laptop from booting. Otherwise, its probably a keyboard issue at its connection at backlight FFC or Keyboard FFC could be lose or have a fault or the keyboard keys are faulty and you will need to replace the keyboard. Check all these aspects and connections out by inspecting the keys of your laptop from Q to P keys and open the back of your laptop and inspect all the appropriate plugs and connections from the chart below.

Thank you! I will check the keyboard connections. The SATA cable was my first thought as well, but it appears to be connected properly. I used an external keyboard last night and had no issues, so I believe you are correct and it is an issue with the onboard keyboard! Thank you again!!
