Hello ppl.

As the title says I'm extremely worried about my cpu temps almost maxing out when I'm gaming they are hitting nearly 100c,that can't be good.So with that in mind I'm looking to change out the stock cooler with something better. So can anyone recommend a aesy to fot cooler.

I have the p03-640 tower.

Thx ppl.

Acer community members that have the PO3-640 desktop usually use the Noctua U9S chromax black with twin fans cpu coolers link here: NH-U9S chromax.black and some have even used the bigger NH-U12A chromax.black that fitted also, but for this cooler measure your spaces, see the dimensions below, so do the research before you buy. You also need to use a high grade paste like the Thermal Grizzly  Kryonaut Extreme, (don't use liquid metal, you don't need it as LM needs to be repasted every few months as it doesn't last as long as the usual pastes) as upgrading all these factors of the cpu cooling will reduce your cpu temps by at least 20-30c temperature levels, the Noctua is the best and easiest way to reduce temps from an OEM cooler, as they are the best.

With this desktops RTX 3070.8GB GDDR6 or the GTX 1660 SUPER.6GB GDDR6 gpu's, you need to be more careful if you want to change the paste or pads, as these gpu's are more complex to open and have many more thermal pads to change, and if you don't change the pads to their proper thicknesses and reassemble them properly, it will affect the gpu's temps drastically and reduce the gpu's performance, so be careful.

NH-U9S chromax black (you can add an optional second fan to this cpu cooler also)

    NH-U12A chrmax black

no it won't, they know i put the Noctua NH-U12A in my 5000, they told me the only problem is when or if we need to send it in for service for a problem, most ppl put the original parts back in and then they cannot duplicate the problem, most problems occur from replacing parts that are either not compatible or not properly seated-put in place, i have called and spoke to several different level 2 acer techs and they all told me this, and also to get maximum cooling run PS on gaming mode that will put fans at 100% and cool better than on auto mode.

np yw, let us know how it goes when you are done, and read the instructions lol, very important, and post pics and put the acer frost blade fan from the stock cooler on the top for exhaust it will help out, i have 2 in my 5000 case and they def help, i also removed the hdd caddy and cpu bracket for better air flow, it all helps keep the temps as low as possible.

I've decided to go with the Noctua nh-d9l.Seems like the way to go for me,will update when I've fitted

If the NH-D9L is anything like the recommended U9S, you won't have to take the motherboard out and change the backplate, you just use a slightly different length screw to hold it on with the stock backplate. That makes it even easier than the instructions call for.

That was 1 of the main reasons why I went for that cooler. The fact that the back plate doesn't need taking off.I've read somewhere that the backplate is glued to the mobo.So yes happy days 😀.

Now I have to sneek it past the missus, she doesn't get pc'ing at all lol.

Have now fitted the Noctua nh-d9l on my pc.Was very easy to do.It took me roughly around 20 mins to fit, would of been faster but lost a screw in the pc lol.Now it's in and I couldn't be happier. My temps have gone from 100c down to around 63/65c under load after about an hour of intense gaming, and when idle it's around 36c/53c.I need to install the og cpu fan at the top as a exhaust fan to assist with moving heat out,but not sure where to plug fan for this.Again thx ppl for the advice and help.Am very happy with the outcome so far.

Just a quick sidenot to above post. The pc is now whisper quite even with the noctua nh-d9l running full speed.

Looking to fit a new CPU fan in the 3000 series myself, did you have to purchase any different length screws to fit the D9L?

Yes you will need to get some m3x12mm machine flat head screws.I sourced mine from Amazon. You need 4 of them to fit the mounting bracket to the motherboard, also do not forget to use the blue spacers also.

Hope this answers your questio, just read the fitting instructions and you'll be fine
