I have just purchased an acer monitor and I cannot get it to connect to my Dell Latitude laptop via HDMI cable. Are these two not compatible? Is there something I need to do? I have updated all my drivers (well at least I thought I have). I am desperate to get it working! Any help would be amazing!

Thank you.

It should just work. Check and verify the cable is good. Which monitor do you have? Does it work on other computers? Which laptop do you have? Do other monitors work with it?

I'm experiencing the same issue. I have a Dell Vostro 3510 Laptop, and the second monitor is an Acer monitor where the display resolution is not being detected. Here is the link to the laptop: Dell Vostro 3510 on Amazon, and the Acer monitor I'm trying to use has 4K resolution: Acer monitor on Amazon. I have updated all the drivers and also checked the settings in Display → Layout section, but the Display resolution is not showing as 4K. Here is a screenshot.

previously I have used this monitor with ASUS and HP laptops they were quite working great but dell laptop is quite frustrating😤😔

It's possible the Dell only supports FHD on the external video port…
