N21C2 Backlight: Is it possible to default to "Off"?

I have a swift 3 Model N21C2

It defaults to starting with the backlighted keyboard "on". I would like it to default to the backlighted keyboard "off" WITH the option to turn it on when needed.

I can't believe that there is not easy way to accomplish this from what I have found. The Bios has the option to disable the "timeout" but that is all that I can find.

I am shocked something so basic is left out. It seems the people who make these, never use them.

Yes, thank you, I'm aware of the F8 key, but that only turns it off. Next time I turn the computer on it's on again. As I said I am interested in a way for the computer to default to the backlight not coming on. The f8 key will turn it off but it does not prevent it from coming on in the future when the computer is restarted. Does anyone know if there is a way to have the computer default to the backlight being off when you start it up? I also know when the BIOS there is an option to disable the timer on the backlight but once again it's still will come on. I am looking for a solution to have the backlight default to off when the computer is started. Please let me know if that is possible.

We don't have a cross reference between the N21C2 number and the actual model number. Google suggests it might be one of the SF314-512T model series SKUs. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SF3xx-xxx-xxxx. Assuming it is an SF314-512T there might be an advanced mode in the BIOS, try pressing Ctrl-S on the Main tab to see if it offers any other options than the timeout disable/enable that's there.
