Is there a way to upgrade the Android version of the B3-A40? It currently has Android 7.0, but I need 8.0 or higher to use certain apps.

Nope, Acer typically doesn't release newer versions unless the timing from Google is such that the new version comes out while the model is still being sold as new product.

Does this mean the tab is redundant? If so a what a con, no more acer products for me

It's an issue with all Android devices. When they get to a certain age the new OS versions no longer are supported. Thinking back it's an issue with pretty much everything, Macs, Windows systems, phones, etc… Not an issue with the manufacturer really.

So now we compare ACER to those lowley, no-name budget companies?! Cancelling support when the product is taken from the line-up is something I didn't expect from such a big and reputable brand!!!

I've purchased the tablet in 2018 when Android 8.0 has been presented over a year ago, expected that an update was a given 😡
