I own a Nitro AN515-57 model and have been using it for almost 10 months now. It has an i5 CPU and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU. Yesterday I was playing Apex Legends on high graphics settings while it was plugged in and everything was going smoothly for a while. I was getting a smooth 60fps experience for the entire game. Then all of a sudden I experienced an fps drop to about 10 - 20fps and it stayed like that for the rest of the match. After finishing the match I opened google chrome to go look up what happened but realized my laptop was performing slower than usual, struggling to open chrome quickly and having difficulties scrolling down youtube (can't even get 60fpa when scrolling through comments). It's been like this for a day now and I can't even play games that don't require heavy workload such as undertale, stardew valley and other 2d games because they cap at about 10 - 20 fps. Can someone pls help?

Laptops that have problems like yours are due to users setting that are wrongly set and slow the laptop down or it could be a hardware problem, which for a new laptop like yours is rare!. Also make sure that you have enough ram to play games, minimum for gaming is 16GB (2x DDR4-3200MHz CL22) which 2x ram modules makes your laptop work in Dual Channel RAM which is much better than Single Channel RAM if you only have 1x RAM module installed. Also more ram like 32GB (2x 16GB DDR4-3200MHz) or even 64GB (2x32GB DDR3200MHz) is the ultimate for this laptop.

Also upgrade to a fast PCIe Gen.3x4 M.2 SSD drives like the WD SN750 or the Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe that are the fastest around, which is also very advantageous, also make sure that you have the latest bios Version: 1.19 installed but be very careful when updating a bios and follow the Acer recommended bios update procedures as Acer categorically warns all users that "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution".

But remember that the 2x M.2 SSD drive slots in your AN515-57 laptop run at different speeds and the only M.2 SSD slot that runs at PCIe Gen.3x4 full speeds is the M.2 SSD-1 that the boot drive is in, as the M.2 SSD-2 is a totally different speed and much slower and has a max speeds of 2500MB/s read/write no matter and if you put those above M.2 SSD drive into this SSD-2 slot, so remember that.

Also, I'm talking from personal experience as I've got a very similar AN515-56 with the i7 and RTX3050 gpu and my laptop has all the upgrades above and software updates that I recommended and this laptops works lightening fast and perfectly under Win-11 with NO problems. make sure that you always have the latest Windows Updates up to date, the Intel Win-11 latest drivers (use the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant scan) and also make sure that you have the latest Win-11 NVidia RTX3060 driver Version:531.79 WHQL and for gaming install the NVidia GeForce Experience software and play "Apex Legends" through this NVidia software as its included for the best and ultimate settings for your RTX3060 graphics, don't change the RTX3060 settings to anything higher as that could be the problem that you have caused for the AN515-57 to run slowly, keep everything at default settings,

I'm sorry but it didn't fix my problem. I set everything to NVidia's optimized settings, run it and it still runs at 12fps. Even on the lowest graphics setting I'm now only getting 20-28 fps. I forgot to mention but the moment my fps dropped yesterday and never went up since, my cpu reached a temp never seem before of 97 degrees celcius and I my charger was plugged in with my laptop at 75%. Do you have any other tips that can fix this that isn't repasting thermal paste? thank you for the advice.

The only other thing that you could do is to reinstall the RTX3060 NVidia driver again (do you have the latest RTX3060 driver above driver?) if you don't, then you need to install that latest driver and when you do the install, use the Advanced option to Clean Install (as that deletes the old driver) and see if that changes things, as this symptom could be from a faulty ram module, a voltage problem to the cpu or gpu, that a laptop under warranty is covered by Acer, so don't open your laptop as it could void your warranty and send it to Acer Support and tell them what happened, that your laptop all of a sudden lost performance which is very unusual. Btw, I've played games for long periods of time on my laptop and I've had this laptop for 14 months and it still operates as good as when it was new and perfectly, as I've kept its drivers up to date always and repasted the cpu/gpu and changed its vcore pads and cleaned its fans, which is all standard maintenance for a laptop that has to be done every 12 months.

    Here are the stats:

I'm utilizing 90% - 100% of my gpu at all times but my gpu temperatures are very low and what's more surprising is that my clock speed is extremely low. When running this game I was getting consistent 60fps before but now it can't even be smooth on the title screen. At this point is it a hardware problem or are there other steps I can take to fix this?

What game is that above, look at the Nvidia GeForce Experience if its got a setting for this game and use that. The gpu should not be utilized at 90% - 100% while the cpu is 70%, it should be the reverse with the AN515-57 - i7-11800H and the RTX-3060 specs. Send this laptop back to Acer Support in your area and get the Acer technicians to have a look at the gpu problem, as it might be faulty and the whole motherboard might need to be replaced, don’t open the laptop as your 10 months old laptop is under warranty and a problem like this is covered under warranty.
