Hello! I'm planning to upgrade the RAM (currently 8 GB) of my laptop to 16 GB. However, I'm not sure about what is the clock speed of the build-in RAM. Do you know what clock speed would be the most compatible for my device?

Note: The attached pic. shows a screenshot from the task manager. I don't know if it's accurate though.

    Hi,

You may have 4GB onboard memory and a 4GB removable RAM or 8GB onboard memory and an empty slot for upgrade, so could you please download and install CPU-z, run it and find out the memory combination in your laptop, then buy a 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz RAM or whatever the frequency of the removable RAM(if it's present) and install, if you are in any doubt, please post the pictures of Memory tab and SPD tab in CPU-z .

The Clock speed of your MOBO is 3200 MHz (laptop review) Dual Channel is supported.

If you open up your laptop and see one empty DDR4 slot that means the 8GB DDR4 is soldered on your MOBO, CPU-Z will only monitor the slots. I have the a515-54G and that has the DDR4 soldered, my clock speed is only 2667 MHz.

If the DDR4 is soldered and you want to find out the speed and model number etc. paste this command in the Command Prompt opened as administrator:

wmic MemoryChip get Banklabel, Capacity, Configuredclockspeed, Devicelocator, FormFactor, Manufacturer, Serialnumber, Speed

To get the maximum clock speed buy exactly what the above WMIC results show same 8 GB capacity, it will show 3200 MHz frequency. And you will be running in Dual Channel mode.
