Mic is not Working. The person I am talking to cannot hear me.

The in-built microphone in my Acre Aspire laptop was working very well. I had to get the whole thing  reinstalled be a technician a couple of weeks ago after a problem. Now I cannot skype. I can hear the voice of the people talking to me. But the people who I am talking to, can't hear my voice. Webcam is working perfectly well. I tried to fix it by going to control panel > Hardware and sound -> Sound -> Manage Audio Devices. I tried everything there, but no luck. I also see that the grey bars in front of the microphone icon on  the Recoding tab, is not to be seen. So I am stuck there now. I desperately want to talk, but the mimic is not working. Can you find me a solution please. I am running on Windows Vista. Thanks in advance.

Without additional details on what was done to the system, the only thing I'm going to be able to suggest would be to contact local service, or see if an external microphone would work.
