I bought my Acer laptop around 3 years ago in October 2020. from the beginning I was getting a lot of issues with my computer like draining battery quickly, overheating, etc. I approached one of the service centres near my place, and they told me that it is a common issue with every gaming laptop so nothing to do with it. I too neglected these issues then as calling customer care and going service centre every week is an uphill task. Later I got a new problem with my laptop, it was getting stuck suddenly while using it. there was not any option to get out of this other than restarting the computer by long pressing the power button. so I again approached the service centre and I was told that it is the problem with overheating as the thermal paste is having an issue. As a solution laptop had to be opened and cleaned. then they changed the thermal paste and charged me around 1500 for this as well. 2 months were ok there was not any issue but after that same problem started again. so I stopped playing games and using heavy software, while doing so I can prevent the laptop from heating. around 2 weeks ago I again went to the service centre as the problem is very brutal nowadays. now they are saying that it is the problem with the graphics card. what should I do? I think I got a defective piece from the seller. that's why these many problems are arising.

From reading your post above, it seems to me that the issues that you are having and have had since this laptop is new, is because you have never ever set this laptop up properly for gaming, or have had this laptops essential updates like GPU graphics, BIOS or if your laptop had a VBIOS update, up to date and that is why your laptop overheated and didn't play games properly. Also and whenever you ask questions on a forum and/or a solutions for your model laptop PLEASE tell us the exact model number of your laptop and what Acer gaming laptop you have, is it a Nitro or Predator gaming laptop or something else???

The main things that you should do with a new laptop is always make sure that the windows software is up to date, Nvidia or AMD graphics drivers are up to date, if your laptop has an Nvidia GPU then installing GeForce Experience software and running games through this specialist Nvidia software is the best and ultimate way to have the best settings for your laptop to work at its ultimate settings for many games that Nvidia has gone to extensive effort to have your laptop perform at its peak performance, also you need to set Nvidia Control Panel and all its high end software at Program Settings to the High-performance Nvidia processor.

If its an Intel gaming laptop then you also need to install and run the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and do this specialist Intel software scan of your laptop and get all Intel drivers up to date, as doing all the above and also keeping the fans and paste and pads after 3 years in good condition and clean will make you laptop perform at its peak and your laptop will never ever overheat. Let us all the above as we can help you even more!

Contact Acer Support in your country (is that Customer Care you mentioned?) and explain your issue, they will check and repair your laptop but may want payment in advance before repairing it. If the estimated costs exceed >50% of a new laptop I recommend to upgrade to a newer, original Windows11, laptop and use your old one as backup. Make sure that a Gaming laptop has 2-3 fans and several heatsinks for both the CPUs and GPUs/SSDs A 2.5" SATA SSD with Windows system installed on it runs cooler than the smaller PCIe SSDs and Intel's new Raptor Lake T series 13th generation CPUs also run cooler, including the i9-13900T, i7-13700T, i5-13600T, 13500T and 13400T. Low power GPU cards are always recommended for gaming laptops, NVIDIA are known for power hungry cards that can run very hot when playing big games and don't use High Performance Power Plan in Windows but Balanced and raise your gaming laptop 1 inch above the table top, free from carpets and pillows or large obstacles, have plenty of cool air circulation around your laptop when playing games (always with the power adapter plugged in).
