Your mainboard only supports a ATX12VO single-rail type PSU. 500watts is the highest-power Acer single rail PSU offers. Standard higher-powered PSUs are usually dual-rail type with power split between them. So they likely can't be easily adapted to or work correctly with your mainboard. While many high-end GPUs recommend 550watt or higher PSUs, the 500watt ATX12VO single-rail PSU should be quite adequate.

But that's the problem. There are none, or if there are, they are very well hidden. Even the few reviews online are usually few years old the last time I checked.

You could try your luck with various Amazons, eBay, or one of the many Chinese market sites.

So far we haven't found any good choices for third party supplies with the ATX12VO models. There are a very few supplies available, usually with a 10 pin connector instead of a 6 and 4. Some people have had luck sourcing the old style supplies, but with a big enough single rail for 12V to work, using custom adapter cables, and that's likely the best route if you really need more than 500W, or trade in the PO3 for a PO5 or PO7 that do have larger supplies. Or you could wait for the new POX… :)

Sorry. If you want generic off-the-shelf parts that might be available from a local shop, then build your own desktop next time. Not a pre-built which often has proprietary hard-to-substitute designs to save production costs.

Your link was bad in some way… Which models were you looking at? I didn't see any ATX12VO through a search of their website.

Hi all, I recently purchased a P03-650 with an RTX4060 and have also looked into this.

I found this 12V single rail ATX which may work:

Looks like it may also have the right connectors

    Right connectors? I doub it.

Open up your PC an check how many pins there are on those two cables that go to the motherbord. Then look at the connectors and the schematic at the back of the PSU you linked: PSU has one 10-pin and one 18-pin connector for a mobo.

Is this also what you currently have? 10 + 18?

Nope, you would still have to build an adapter from the 20+4 pin ATX connector to the 6 pin 12VO connector.

I managed to find an ebay store selling genuine, brand new Acer parts. This PSU is for the PO5 and PO7 models, but it would be interesting to see if it would fit a PO3 as it is 800W and would allow a GPU upgrade to newer models:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276254736227?hash=item405210bf63:g:fwEAAOSwxExljogH

The seller is called somanyparts if you want to look on ebay for them.

ps. they sell a wide variety of parts, including things like the PO3 glass door which I know a few people might be after 👍

Nope, the newest 5000 and 7000 series use a 24 pin motherboard connector.

So....I think I have finally realised:

    a) to be happy with what I already have

    b) that by the time you buy a new PSU and GPU it will be better value and have more longevity to just upgrade to a higher spec model....

All the research taught me a lot about PCs mind you. Sorry if it was annoying! 🥺😬😁

As mentioned to the OP nearly a year ago, if you want generic off-the-shelf upgrade parts that might be readily available from local shops or online vendors, then build your own. Most factory pre-builts often have proprietary hard-to-upgrade designs in order to save production costs & sell cheap.

Yep, I'm with you now. Unfortunately, if you have no real prior knowledge of PC architecture, I think it is one of those situations you have to go through as a learning curve (and lose some cash unnecessarily in the process). I read and understood the initial advice but just didn't want to hear it….upgrade itchy fingers….who knew gaming PCs are such an addictive hobby. Nearly as bad as expensive HiFi's! 😁

If you're itchy to upgrade, google search 'spatial labs display pc requirements' so you'll know what you gotta have for a video HiFi. Cuz 3D gaming is where it's at. Bring money. 🙂
