What are the parameters to set a supervisor password in Acer Aspire A514-53?

I want to boot a Live USB antivirus, ESET, but as it is currently configured, my laptop will not boot into that. Nor will allow me to test a Live USB distro that I want to test, Porteus.

So, my only options seem to be:

a) Changing to legacy booting (I would prefer not to do that)

b) Adding an exception manually, but that will require to set a supervisor password.

So my question is: What are the parameters for a supervisor password in this model of Acer? What characters are not accepted? What is the maximum lenght of the supervisor password? Is there any way to do this without setting a password, and without changing to legacy booting?

I found no such information in the manual for the A514-53

Don't set a password (hassle) unless BIOS page(s) are greyed-out and you cannot access anything, and don't try to change to legacy (this UEFI/BIOS version does not have legacy) make sure Secure Boot is activated in BIOS, Windows requires that. Did you try your Windows Recovery USB flash drive to see if that shows up? If you never made a USB Recovery flash drive make one now in Windows10/11, use a USB 2.0 10-20GB stick Fat32v formatted and type Recovery Drive in the Search Box, follow the instructions, then see if you can boot with your new Recovery USB drive (a must for eveery Windows user).

You need to boot with a USB drive already in the correct USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port of your laptop (some USB3.1 flash drives won't work in USB2.0 ports). If nothing works also your new Recovery Drive is not detected, boot to BIOS and Reset to factory setting.

BTW why are you installing 3rd party AV software, Windows Defender takes care of all malware and virus threads much better than any 3rd party program can do, Windows11 22H2 (you did not post what version of Windows you have) has the most advanced security on the market today. You can run Linux in Dual BOOT or in a Virtual Drive in Windows11, but you probably knew that already.

I recently updated to Windows 11, 22H2. Haven't tried the Windows Recovery USB flash drive, but I will create one to test it. I wanted to use the ESE rescuesys because it's easy to use, and does not require install, just to boot it via USB. Microsoft Defender it's good to have it on a daily basis, but I wanted to check using another antivirus just in case, Google it's sending me weird messages about my Chrome having some sort of malware, but Microsoft Defender is detecting nothing, and I haven't seen anything weird in this laptop.

I don't want to make this laptop a dual boot (yet), or using a virtual box. In my case, I prefer to do away with Windows, and run it as a Linux box only. For the moment, I wanted to test Porteus because it's basically a portable installation, but this has become incredibly difficult and complicated with this ACER laptop. I believe that the USB's I am using would be 2.0, and the ones for this machine are 3.2. That might be the issue, but I would have to get a new USB to test this theory.

It seems like my only option is to set a supervisor password for this laptop, but there is no clear guidance regarding the parameters for such a password, and the nightmarish stories I am reading in the web kind of discourage me from going any further. No comments on the lenght, or use of special characters. We'll see.
