Hello!
I have an Acer Aspire 5, model A515-45-R5B9. It has an HDMI port, a USB-C port, and a couple of standard USB ports.
I have two Dell monitors. They're both Dell 0YMYH1 24" Black LCD LED Monitor Displays.
Previously, I had my monitors' DVI-D cords plugged into DisplayPort adapters, both of which plugged into a single box; then I had a USB-C cord that went from the box to my laptop. This way, I was able to access all three screens.
When I bought this laptop, I tried plugging in the same USB-C, and no dice. So I bought a different cord to instead plug the USB-C port from the box into the HDMI port on my laptop. Again, no visuals. Finally, I tried getting a cord that goes from the DisplayPort on the monitor adapter to the laptop's HDMI; with another USB-C cord splitting off to power it (bypassing the box completely), and this isn't working, either.
I believe that the USB-C on the laptop is data only, but there has to be a way to hook up additional monitors, right? Even in the "settings", it gives me the option to "detect other displays"?
Thank you for any help you can offer. I don't know if it's the monitors, or the cord combinations, or what, but I don't want to buy new equipment or new cords without some experienced advice. Thank you so much in advance for your help!
