Hello,

I had spilled a small liquid on my keyboard a few months back. Keyboard stopped working.

I have replaced the palmrest/keyboard so new keyboard, I have replaced the trackpad, I have replaced the keyboard sub-board that goes between the keyboard and the motherboard. I made sure all ribbon cables are in all the way, and secured properly.

Anyone have this happen to them? Maybe the ribbon that goes from that keyboard sub-board to the motherboard is faulty? I'm not sure what else it could be.

I'm pretty sure I see it in Windows device manager. "Standard PS/2 Keyboard" I've tried uninstalling driver and rebooting. I've also tried removing battery and removing cmos as sort of a reset.

@haydaddict have you tried re-using the old sub-board?

Hmm the reason I replaced it, is because one side was missing the white clip that moves to secure the ribbon cable. I will see if I can swap this over with some tweezers and report back. Here is a photo so you can see the white clips I am speaking of. Thanks.

@haydaddict yes, try it. Also, make sure that both the keyboard and the sub-board to mainboard ribbon cables are not damaged, and the contact pins are clean.

Well messing around with it, I decided to use the continuity tester function of my multimeter and the top pins are just the bottom pins inverted. This board looks like is just to move it to the side.

So I skipped the board and used a steel straight edge and put 2 creases in the trackpad ribbon to directly connect it to the motherboard and this works.

Yeah that little ribbon cable connecting sub-board to motherboard had to have failed.

Thanks for the inspiration. The keyboard is fine now.
