New Samsung SSD AHCI or RST Premium with Optane Which is better ?

I bought a new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB because my old SSD disk got corrupted. When installing my windows, I installed it with the default bios setting, RST Premium with Optane.

Then I installed samsung magician software. Iops low in bechmark values. I came across 210/160 when normal values should be 600/550. Then I saw that samsung has a proprietary nvme express driver.

But it was written that the setting in the bios should be AHCI for the driver to be installed. Do you think it makes sense to switch to AHCI mode and install windows again?

It also says that the nvme driver must be installed in order to use some features in the magician software.

Hi,

I would suggest you skip using Samsung Magician and continue to use IRST Premium with Optane mode, in my opinion, Samsung magician is not very useful software at all but others might tell you otherwise.

I did some research on this topic. In fact, if you do not have the optane memory feature and you will not use the raid feature, this option is somewhat unnecessary. There isn't much difference between the two in terms of performance.

I was undecided. Because I think that the nvme driver that Samsung has released can may be output the iops value normally.

Yes, try both and see which SATA mode suits you best.

Acer's firmware SATA default is RST Premium with Optane, even for 1 HDD laptops. On this forum's recommendation I once tried (in Windows10) to change that to AHCI and it corrupted the boot sector on my mechanical 1TB Sata HDD. PCIe SSDs may be OK but you wrote that your old SSD got corrupted so if I were you I would not experiment too much with these BIOS settings if it works OK like you have it now. Samsung disk freeware is useless IMO, I used Samsung backup software once (lost all my data) and have a Smart Samsung TV that I haven't figured out yet how to use online (very complicated software, badly written instructions).
