PRedator Helios 16 PH16-71 low CPU performance on Intel 13900HX.

Hi,

a week ago I bought an Helios 16 PH16-71 with an Intel 13900HX.

I noticed it was barely boosting ov 3 GHz on the Pc-Cores in games and that I was CPU-limited most of the time. So I ran Cinebench R23 and even on Turbo mode I only got atround 20.000 points. Other laptops with the same CPU scrore at least 27.000 on average. This review scored the same as I did

So I decided to monitor a benchmark run on Throttlestop and noticed the P-Cores are sitting at just 2 GHz.

It is also VERY unfortunate that Acer decided to lock undervolting. This year ost premium gaming laptops form other brands have undervolting protection disabled, so a competent end user is able to fine tune it order to drastically reduce power consumption, heat and noise.

I noticed they have a firmware update on 3/10/23. It says thermal optimizations check ot out. let me know if it works.

I have bought PH16-71 with i9 13900hx rtx4080 few day ago, did a lot of benchmarking and i have to say wow ! This specs underperform in all tests compared to same specs laptops from other companies. Cinebench r23 single score 1848, 24000 multiscore, firestrike combined 34000 compared to best score 39000. Im disappointed, temps are very high in 95C +, no undervolting allowed. What gives ? I thinking about returning this laptop. It is a shame that 2400usd laptop has this issues

Yes, windows , drivers , bios everything is up to date. Was updating yesterday after factory reset.

I advise backing up the operating system and then performing a cold install of Windows 10. This installation does not include bloatware.

I've got the exact same laptop - had it since the 1st Aug 2023. My best Cinebench R23 Multi core score is 28042 and 1977 for Single core. My only issue is that the P-core 7 hits 100c but the rest of the core remain in the black. I ran it on turbo and on a flat clean surface. Is this normal?

OK…i feel silly, i somehow kept GPU fan on auto do ran both fans at max and the p-core 7 hit 98c max but put my multi score up to 28592. I know this is a stress test etc so hopefully it shouldn't that temp with gaming etc?
