Hi,I am using Acer aspire 5 (A515 56 50QD) laptop with 11th gen intel core I5 1135 G7 processor since Jan 21.Recently I have upgraded ram from 4+4=8 GB to 4+16=20 GB.This laptop has preinstalled 512 GB kingston make nvme SSD (with max 1300 mbps read speed as per crystaldiskmark)as primary boot drive. Is it worth upgrading this SSD to gen 3 samsung 970 evo plus nvme SSD or some other gen 4 SSD ?

    Hi,

Yes, you have a Gen 3 PCIe M.2 SSD slot, so installing Samsung 970 Evo will increase speed but you will not notice the difference unless you transfer large files very often, Gen4 SSD will run at Gen 3 speeds only because of the motherboard restrictions.

The drive you have in there now is likely a NVMe 3.0 x2. The slot support NVMe 3.0 x4, so changing to an x4 drive should give a significant speed increase. Going to 4.0 won't give any better speed than 3.0 gives you.
