I recently bought a new monitor that supports 1980x1080165hz, but I tried several alternatives and I couldn't get my notebook to run at 165hz resolution, it only stays at 120hz. I use HUSKY HDMI 2.1 cable.

    What is your laptops model number? The Intel® UHD Graphics 620 supports a Max resolution of 4096x2304 with a refresh rate of 60Hz when connected via HDMI 1.4, and a resolution of 4096x2034 using DP connection with a refresh rate of 60Hz with a HDMI 2.1. at resolution 1980x1080 its max refresher rate is 120Hzas its shown in your graphics settings. It doesn’t matter if your external monitor supports 165Hz if your gpu doesn’t at any resolution rates. Read this Intel guide “Maximum Supported Resolutions on Intel® Graphics”.

    Hello!!

    @RickyALK

    Acer usually only warrants 60Hz minimum for any external monitor. Higher rates are listed only if the specific monitor has actually been tested and achieved this rate. For example, here's a rate table for another a715 series model showing rates achieved with different monitors. If you're achieving 120Hz, it sounds like the monitor is a good match --- but perhaps not the best match --- for this laptop. There doesn't seem to be a similar rate table published for your -51G so it'd be a trial and error approach to getting the monitor to work at 144Hz with the TBT port. Might work. Might not.

    • DisplayPort 1.1 = 2560x1600 at 60 Hz
    • HDMI 1.4 = 1920x1200 at 60 Hz
    • DVI (Single-link) = 1920x1200 at 60 Hz
    • VGA = 2048x1536 at 75 Hz

    Regards,
