    1. Unplug charger. Check on bottom cover for a battery disconnect pinhole.
    2. Gently insert and press a paperclip into the pinhole for about a minute.
    3. If no pinhole, press and hold power button for about a minute.
    4. Plug the charger back in.
    5. Wait for the battery charge LED to light up steady orange or blinking orange.
    6. Then keep waiting till it evenually turns steady blue or steady red.
    7. This may take up to 24 hours.
    8. Only after battery LED turns steady blue, then try to turn it on again.

No pin cover, but reset via power button did the trick.

    Many thanks.

    Ha! I spoke too soon.

Machine has powered back on. Charge showing as 68% and pluged in but not increasing. Also, if I run a power hungry game the computer shuts down with a flashing charge light. The reset works again but going round in circles. May need to launch through nearest window!

Charge showing as 68% and pluged in but not increasing. Also, if I run a
power hungry game the computer shuts down with a flashing charge light.

This is normal when the battery must help the charger meet the power demand. At those times the battery isn't charging even though plugged in. At a certain discharge point, about 50%, battery charging should take precedent of gaming power demands and throttling or freezing or shutdowns will start happening. Then it's time to stop gaming and allow the battery the charge back to 100% before starting gaming again.

If the battery is a bit weak or lost a lot of its full charge design capacity, the throttling or shutdowns might happen sooner. You might need a new battery and/or a bigger power supply. Try this—-

    (1) Search 'cmd' in Windows start menu.
    (2) Right click command prompt near top of menu.
    (3) Click run as administrator.
    (4) Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport' at command prompt.
    (5) Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer.
    (6) Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser.
    (7) Post screenshot of the first part of the report if possible that compares design full charge capacity with its remaining full charge capacity.

Hope this helps. For info… this is the second battery I've had in this computer the first one failed completely and was replaced under warranty by Acer.

Battery seems OK. You may want to try to calibrate the batttery charge controller using either the Acer Center or manually using the instructions at this link.

What is your full helios 300 model number? For example, PH315-54? What size is the charger? 135watt? 180watt? 230watt?
