Aspire 3 A-315 Problem of a software activation

edited March 2023 in Aspire Laptops

I purchased Aspire 3 A-315 on Feb. 28th.

After 10 days I purchased the PC, it no longer charges and never turned back on.

I exchanged it for a new one at the physical store and the repair technician had nothing to do with it.

The broken PC still holds my personal information and Microsoft Office License.

My problem is that I can’t activate Microsoft Office on the new PC due to the licence limitation.

Every time I start up Word, pop-up displays and reminds me that the specified Product Key has already been activated the maximum number of times. ……

If I can’t activate it, after about 4 weeks, I’ll lose the license of the software and I will no longer use Microsoft Office.

So, I’m losing Microsoft Office after only 10 days of use, which was supposed to last forever.

I asked Acer support, Microsoft and Geek Squad (BestBuy ) but no one could solve the problem.

I tried to reach Acer support chat again, but somehow the chat window doesn’t open then I came here.

I’d like to get Microsoft Office back in the same condition as the broken PC.

Does anyone have any idea or advice on this problem?

What would you do if you were me?

The problem that you have is that you didn't reset the old/new Aspire 3 A315 laptop that you bought on Feb. 28, there are clear Microsoft guide of what to do when selling or returning a laptop with individual paid for software! As you need to completely logout of the Windows and the Office software before you take it back and exchange a any PC!

Your old Aspire 3 is still active and probably its Office software is being used or active on your old Aspire 3. You need to go back to the physical store where you exchanged the laptop from and make sure that this laptop is reset, office software is logged out of and your ID is not on windows at all, as that is why you cant use the Office softeare as its running on that old Aspire 3 laptop.

    Hi @makko

Acer (Philippines) provides Free Office 2021 for Home and Student for your model laptop.
This is an online subscription so you should contact Microsoft Office Support for your license issue. My experience is that an MSOffice key is linked to the e-mail address you used to register the laptop and MS account and if you migrate to another PC MS will ask for that e-mail address. Since you purchased your laptop through a 3rd party I would also ask that shop to help you if MSOffice Support claims the license is for 1 user only and used several times.

FYI, MSOffice has a worldwide promo till March 15th where you can buy online Office Professional 2021 for $25 (95% discounted). You may want to consider that instead of continuing with the free “Student” version that does not include Outlook and many other useful apps😀.

    Hi StevenGen,

Thank you so much for your answer. I wish I could do what you told me but, the broken PC no longer turns on the power.

Even the repair technician had nothing to do.

Anyway, your kindness made me happy.

Glad to help you out as you should be able to use Office if it’s the Office 360 software with a subscription, as then you have to go to the Office 360 Microsoft site and change your password so that it can’t be used from the old Aspire 3 laptop. If the old Aspire 3 laptop doesn’t boot or turn on (as you said) then when they fix it Office 360 will be logged out and you don’t have to worry as you can use Office 360.

If you have the older Office software that has a 25 digit product key from Microsoft, then you need to go back to the store where you returned the Aspire 3 laptop to and uninstall that Office software off that laptop, as that is the only way that you will stop that office registered product key from being used and the software has to be uninstalled.
