I just bought a second hand Acer Nitro 5 AN517-41-R0RZ knowing it had a black screen issue. There are a lot of simple fixes for this all over the internet so I was hoping to find an easy solution. They showed that the ram worked in another machine. All the internals look healthy, I can't see any burnt out capacitors/resistors and things like that. I put a brand new screen on it as well. The problem is that it charges normal, turns on lilt normal except that it gives a black screen. I attempted to use hdmi to another monitor and still nothing. I tried plugging another keyboard into all the usb ports and it did not get any power. I have cleaned the ram and reseated it in each slot many times. I have power cycled by unplugging the battery and holding the power button for a minute. I have started up holding various suggested combinations of buttons from people online. Ive reset the cmos. It just doesn't make any sense, I can't see any real issue and I don't believe it to be a gpu failure since power to the external ports seems to be effected also. Being that it is not in warranty, if anyone has any suggestions or knows what to look for or where to test voltages of motherboard components and things like that I would rather try and repair it and lose the money I spend then take it to a repair shop to have them just say it's the motherboard and charge me more than the laptop is worth to fix it.
