My laptop's 144hz monitor is stuck at 60hz and I have tried everything I could find.

I have had this problem for almost a year but could not find a solution, so I am making a post. I have an acer nitro 5, the SNID is AN515-55-59KS. A long time ago I started using an external monitor. I found a way to change it from 60hz to 120hz with an hdmi cord through nvidia control panel, but after I did that my laptop's actual monitor is stuck at 60hz. The laptop was capable of 144hz when i bought it, but now, even when it is not connected to the external monitor, it is stuck at 60hz. The part that perplexes me is that when i drag my mouse across the laptop screen, the cursor apears to move in 144hz, while the rest of the screen does not. Windows and even the BIOS says that the monitor is only capable of 60hz, even though the cursor clearly is higher than that. im not even sure the screen is at 60hz cause it looks pretty bad sometimes. Ive tried reinstalling drivers, followed dozens of tutorials, but windows insists that my monitor only goes up to 60hz. I would appreciate help with this.

    Try windows x
