AN515-58 CPU temps consistently hitting 100*C

I bought this laptop late 2022 from Newegg.

Processor was consistently hitting high 90 -100*C during every gaming session after purchase. I recently repasted and it made no difference. NitroSense fans are set to Auto, and Mode is on Default.

HWMonitor shows idle temps around 48*C for all cores. Minimums while working from my hotel room is about 44*C. During gaming sessions (recently: Eve Online, Sons of the Forest), processor has stayed in the high 80s, with spikes to 97* and 100* every few seconds. E-Cores max out at only 66*, while the P-Cores are the ones showing the extreme temps.

I've read a few forums saying this is normal behavior. I'd like to see some feedback from Acer on this, as I'm curious what their official take on this is. I realize that this is considered a budget gaming laptop, and shortcuts had to be made to keep the prices competitive.

Is this normal for a modern Acer gaming laptop? Is this negatively impacting the lifespan of my unit? Are there other apps (other than NitroSense) that I can use to better control the fan curve? NitroSense Max fan setting puts fans at 7k RPM (unbelievably fast & loud), and Custom fan control does not maintain speed set by user. And there are no options for custom fan curves (fan speed based on temp).

Actually there is I also own i5 12500h version and it actually works it limits my temp to 85C. You just need to unlock it first, Just follow the instruction starting 2:09-3:00 at the video i sent to you.

Disable the performance boost mode in advance power setting since it is set to aggressive. Refer to this video on how to make it appear it can lessen your cpu temp from 90C to 80C

The AN515-58 is a great gaming laptop if you set it up properly, as just relying on NS is not enough or all that you need to do, in NS you need to set the settings at Fan Control - Auto, Power Plan - AC - High Performance and set CoolBoost - On, this all the settings for NS.

With the GPU you need the latest games ready NVidia driver to be installed for your GPU, also go to the NVidia Control Panel for all the games and high GPU demanding software that you have, you need to set these software’s in the NVidia Control Panel at Program Settings >Select a program to customise >your game >Select the preferred graphics processor for this program - and select High-performance NVIDIA processor.

Then install GeForce Experience version 3.27.0.112 and make sure that you do scan for Drivers with this software as it will notify you of the latest GPU driver for your laptop, also this software ha NVidia ultimate and best settings for gaming, if the games that you play is in their list, which GeForce Experience has hundreds and allot of the major and most popular games included for the best GPU NVidia ultimate settings. Do all that as all this will make a great difference for your gamin, don't overclock anything or undervolt anything, leave everything to the settings described above, as all that will reduce your temps considerably!

that's normal mate while using heavy resource hungry games

before gaming, open nitrosense, set the fan control to MAX and mode to PERFORMANCE

be sure to close all running apps and background apps before gaming to lighten the load of the CPU and GPU

Hands down worst piece of advice you could have given. I have processor heat issues, and your solution is to install Geforce Experience? You didn't read my post.

Max fan setting is 7k+ RPM. That isn't a realistic solution, sadly.

Hey spoofer44 and with all due respect, as you seem to be very impatient, first and if you don’t have your laptop setup properly software wise, then components like the cpu, gpu and ram will overstress and overheat, as all my suggestion(s) were for you to setup the software properly FIRST and I only suggested the GeForce Experience for gaming ONLY as that is what that software is for, I also advised you on the Nvidia driver updates and to do that first as its essential, as allot of members on this forum don’t know that and its a part that contributes to the overheating and how the cpu/gopu performs.

Unfortunately you are impatient and you want a one solution to the cpu overheating WHICH THERE IS NONE and you think that there is a magic pill that will fix your cpu overheating! A laptop is not like a desktop where you can modify its cooling with liquid cooling and extreme hydrogen cooling etc etc I tried to advise you to make sure that the software is setup properly, as to advise and give you allot of nonsensical modifications with the cpu/gpu under volt method, under clocking the cpu or the gpu and modifying bios and gpu firmware etc etc is very risky and there are thousands of ‘trial and error’ settings as this forum is NOT an overclocking, gaming or mod site and also any mods advice is dangerous and its completely forbidden on this forum, please be aware and more appreciative of what this forum is all about, and that we are here to advise people that are novices and have no experience in setting up a PC and to give complex mods is forbidden and dangerous as it can brick their systems.

Some people even replace their heat pipes with water cooling pipes and run the lines out to a res and pump. Or just buy a laptop with a more substantial cooling system. This laptop sacrificed space for cooling efficiency, so if you want temps to stay decent you'll have to put up with a very loud fan profile (or turn off boost, obviously, as we found out). Can't have it all in this laptop apparently, which is fine because it's only $900.
