I recently did a Windows Update that included ‘system firmware’ as part of the update. Well, the update bricked my computer and it is now stuck in a boot loop. I have used Crisis to recover a broken Acer before, but I need the correct file in order to use the cold boot method and hopefully overwrite the BIOS and get my machine to boot again. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Yes, you have committed a cardinal sin 😁“Never Ever flash a bios from Windows Update for any laptop or desktop” as that is asking for trouble(s) and a bricked laptop (btw, I've got one for a Nitro AN515-56 but I've hidden this update) as you should have known this from many posts on the web. Since you have done a crisis disc recovery before, you should know how to do it again. So do a similar crisis usb as you did before, see the E5-576Gs PDF SG guide that I’ve included below from Acer for this laptop, as that is all that is available for this laptop in its SG. Good luck and hope this helps you out to recover the bios and make this laptop work.

@StevenGen Thank you so much for providing me that guide!!!! Now I just have to find the right BIOS file. See the problem with this Crisis recovery is the BIOS update file doesn't contain just one file, it contains all those ZAA*_multi.fd files and I don't know which one to use. I've tried them all. Gonna try again using this guide you gave me. If anybody knows what file to use, PLEASE provide. We konw it needs to be named ZAA.FD at this point, but we don't know the exact file to put on the crisis recovery disk as it is only supposed to contain ONE file. Anyway, I'm going to try ALL of these with that naming convention and see if it works. Will update you on the results. Thanks a lot for providing that. As yes, I'm working on my Master's Degee in Data Analytics, I know exacltly how dumb of a thing I did. That's the bad part about it. I knew better.

With the crisis disk method, try to re-name the binary files extracted from the firmware executable files to ZAA.FD or ZAAx64.FD. Then while pressing and holding FN+ESC key, turn the machine on. Don't let go of the keys until you see continuous USB LED activity. If successful, after 3-5 minutes the laptop should automatically shut down or reboot.

Other solutions are that you either replace the bios chip with a new one or and if you are experienced and are willing to use the CH341A Programmer, then using this tool would be a much easier solution to reflash the corrupted bios chip to the last bios version of your laptop, this crisis method is allot harder than using the CH341A Programmer or replacing the bios chip as the ZAA.FD file method is not a simple method to reflash the bios
