Configuration: Aspire 5 (A515-43)

Problem: No response to left or right click; cursor not displayed.

Running windows 11; latest drivers installed. Device manager shows:

This device will not start

for one of the touchpad drivers. No ‘touchpad’ entry in the BIOS.

Able to use a wired trackball as a workaround.

  • Hello! What happens when you just press f7, alt+f7, and fn+f7? What is the bios version? Are there two bios versions that mention something about the touchpad?

    Hi @phoenix5490

Looks like your touchpad is not detected by W11, Type REGEDIT in your Search box and go to:

    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad

On the righthand screen you should see something like this:

If nothing shows: Restore your system to an earlier point: Type “Create a Restore point” and select "Restore"

install Serial I/O driver first before installing touchpad driver

try using Windows 10… use the default O.S. that came with your laptop when you bought it
