Hi there,

Last night I had an issue while working in a project. After a few hours of work, I was ready to upload my work when I found that I was not connected to internet (I was earlier). But not only that, the wireless adapter did not show up at all. Reading forum I did perform a simple default settings on the BIOS (F2 to get in, F9 to reset to default and F10 to save an exit). However, when restarting after that computer never turned back on again. So, lights on the keyboard light up but computer does not run, screen stays black, not even the predator logo or anything.

I tried many options but there is no way to start it up.

What could cause this issue? And more importantly, how can I fix it? I really need to recover my work.

This is a Triton 300 (Model N20C3) bought some months ago…

    Hi,

Could you please post the full model name, like PT3xx-xx,

Anyway, please disconnect from Mains, press power button for 9 Secs, leave the laptop to rest for 15Minutes, reconnect AC adapter and fully charge the battery and see whether it helps.

OK, will try that. I think I tried something similar last night but will make it again.

So… brummyfan2 I did what you suggested, it´s fully charged but it remains the same… Won´t turn on at all

  • If you are out of warranty period, open the base cover, disconnect the battery, disconnect CMOS battery(orange circle), leave the laptop to rest for 20 Minutes, then reconnect them and try whether it helps.

If you are within the warranty period, contact Acer Support centre and get it fixed under warranty.

Many thanks for your help brummyfan2.

I am within warranty but I am tempted to open it now… I d really need what´s inside for tomorrow.

I can try to visit in the morning to see how long it takes…

Anyway, I will update about the issue… hoping is not a critical one

    Thanks again

No problem, make sure that you don't touch any internal parts and use any anti-static wrist band if it's possible, otherwise touch any bare metal to discharge any static electricity before start working inside, good luck.

OK, I do have tools and wrist but thing is, will I loose warranty? Is there some sticker to remove or something?

  • It depends on the local regulations regarding warranty, as long as you don't make any marks or any damage on any internal components, they may honour the warranty but then again I don't know about the laws governing warranty in your region, if you are in doubt, it's better to check with the Acer support centre in your country.

If your laptop doesn't turn on when you press the power button, but the keyboard light blinks and then stops, then you need to remove your RAM from the slot (both if you have 2 RAM sticks) and reinsert it again. This is pretty common for Acer laptops.

Regarding Wifi not working, I kind of had similar problem with my Helios 300 PH315-51. I bought my laptop in 2018 and since then Wifi was working fine for 3 years, then suddenly it stopped working. In device manager it showed up as Intel 9560 but when I tried to turn it on in Settings app, it didn't turn on. No matter what troubleshooting I did, like uninstalling and installing new drivers, BIOS reset, didn't work. I even did a fresh new install of Windows 10 just to solve this problem, still didn't work. Finally, out of curiosity I visited Acer driver support page again to see if I had missed anything. Everything was fine from drivers section but in BIOS section there were a lot of BIOS updates Acer released since 2018 which I had not updated. I thought it was not necessary so never updated it. I downloaded the latest BIOS update, the most recent one out of them all and installed it. It rebooted and my Wifi started working again.

I have no idea what went wrong, I was almost about to buy new Intel 9560 Wifi chip from Amazon. But BIOS update solved it.

I tried searching youtube for your laptop model, I found 3 videos of Triton 300 but different models.

If your laptop has an Acer sticker covering one of the screw holes, then most likely it will void your warranty:

    2nd video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFrU75SwUFY

The third video of Triton 300 doesn't have any sticker covering the screw holes, in this case it won't void your warranty:

Many thanks brummyfan2 and Pop_Rockz for your help.

Regarding warranty I visited the “acer service” indicated for Madrid but it turned out is not the official one,… The only place in Spain is located in Barcelona so if I want to do it by official warranty I d need to send it anyway.

Guys at the service (it´s a multibrand) said same as you guys, if there is no sticker and you are careful it should be fine with the warranty abd they were going to do what you both suggested anyway so I guess I am going for that, I can´t afford too many days without the laptop.

leonaip, mate, I mentioned in my first post I bought it some months ago, some time after the summer and well maintained since then. It was manufactured late 2021 so I don´t think it´s about being old… Anyway, when I open will make a general cleaning of course.

Will get back soon hopefully, I will keep posted

    Thanks!

  • No problem, hope everything goes well for you 🤞
