How do I disable the touch pad while typing?

The cursor jumps around while typing, guess I'm touching the touch pad. The Elan Smart Pad doesn't seem to control this function.

Go to Control Panel->Mouse.  Click on the Elan tab and you will find an option on the first screen to disable the touchpad totally when an external pointing device is plugged in.  Clicking to options button  will enable you to enable/disable many different functionalities on those screens.  Since you didn't mention your hardware/Windows versions this refers to the system I have, Aspire V3-771G.  Yours may be different but this should get you in the right area.

Is it possible to change the sensitivity of the touch pad?  Mine seems to be overly sensitive for my needs.

    Thanks.
