Hey guys,

I have an Acer TC-281-UR13 PC.

It has a B350 Bristol ridge motherboard and a AMD A10-9700 Apu processor.

I would really like to update the CPU to a Ryzen 5 or something similar. Without buying a b450+ motherboard if possible.

I'm not100% sure what processors will work with this motherboard.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks,

XDRC45

    Hi.

    AMD A12-9800 3.8G 2M(L2) 2400 Quad Core 65W

    AMD A10-9700 3.5G 2M(L2) 2400 Quad Core 65W

    AMD A8-9600 3.1G 2M(L2) 2400 Quad Core 65W

    AMD A6-9500 3.5G 1M(L2) 2400 Dual Core 65W

If it would be compatible, here it is:

    Regards.

Thank you for the reply. So a Ryzen 5 1400 is the best upgrade option for this motherboard? There is no better option for the acer b350 motherboard?

In answering your question “So a Ryzen 5 1400 is the best upgrade option for this motherboard?” what I can tell you 100% is that the most compatible and powerful cpu that has been tested for an upgrade for your TC-281-UR13 desktop is the Socket AM4 A12-9800/Radeon R7 with its integrated graphics that has 4 core, 4 threads, 3.8 GHz, turbo 4,2GHz, 2MB L2 cache TDP 65W and its 100% compatible for you to replace the oem AMD A10 9700 cpu, if you want a lower TPD and cooler running cpu, then the A12-9800E that has a TPD of 35W is also 100% compatible with your desktop.

I don't think that the Ryzen 5 1400 is compatible with the TC-281-UR13 mobo B350 chipset as Acer haven't done a bios update for the Ryzen 5 1400  cpu, as the TC-281-UR13 all came out with the A10-12 Socket AM4 Bristol Ridge cpu's and the Ryzen 5 1400 is a Summit Ridge type cpu and they need a bios update like all AMD chipsets do that cater for different cpus generations, as an example, the AMD B550 chipsets mobos were not compatible with the AMD 5000 series cpu's as they needed a bios update before they were, which I had to do to an ASUS TUF B550 Gaming WIFI mobo for a gaming desktop system that I built.

Thanks for the informative and detailed reply. One thing I did notice is that my BIOS says that it's version

amd agesa summit pi am4 1.0.0.6

Do you think the summit ridge would run on the B350 Mobo

The AMD socket AM4 Summit Ridge cpu's are compatible with the AMD B350 chipset and they have been used with mobos with that chipset, but it needs a bios update which as I've said before, Acer did not fit this cpu to the TC-281 model as they all use the A10 and its more powerful A12 version cpu, and none of the TC-281desktops had the Ryzen 5 1400 cpu. You can try the Ryzen 5 1400 cpu with the TC-281 B350 chipset mobo (make sure that you are running the last bios of the TC-281s version R01-A4) but it will be your responsibility if its NOT compatible as I take no responsibility as whenever I upgrade a cpu.

As a rule, I always use the Acer fitted same gen and socket that Acer uses on its desktops and use CPU Upgrades as a guide and as a final measure, in your case, CPU Upgrade does not recommend the Ryzen 5 1400 as an upgrade. I can't guarantee anything and its your responsibility with upgrading to the Ryzen 5 1400 on the TC-281s B350 chipset mobo but, it would be interesting to find out, so let us know. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Hi, i have the same pc and i was wondering too about some upgrade to do. i search on the internet for the upgrade of the cpu and i saw this guy on youtube. This guy disabled the secure boot and then put a ryzen 3 1200(https://youtu.be/GkNf1g1SfYQ)it's an italian video so if u dont understand please use a traslate.

If this pc support the ryzen 3 1200 so ipotetically it could support all the zen 1th gen ryzen(on the specific i want to put the ryzen 7 1700x)

    Let me know,
