Hello,

I have a  VM6630G, I've been trying to image it for several days now. I disabled secure boot, CSM is set to aways (legacy). I've tried all the usb ports including different thumb drives. I even purchased a 2.0 usb thum drive. It still does not read any of them, I tired to load the default settings on the bios but doesnt work. Hoping someone had another idea, also F12 does not work and I cannot find it in the bios.

Thanks,

Brian

Install the Win-10 iso through its current OS and through th e.ISO file, you don't need to boot into the Windows Installation USB. Try that and do a complete format of the boot drive, if the boot drive is damaged change as allot of the time the mechanical 2.5: drive het errors and get faulty and its allot cheaper and better in the long run to use a 2/5"SD as they are pretty cheap these days and this desktop will perform 100% quicker and better with an SSD drive, also and after you have installed Win-10 and all its updates and also have installed the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and have gotten all the Intel drivers up to date then update the bios to the last version P21.C1 (read the Appendix folder and the PDF guide of how to do this correctly) as after you have done all this your dektop should work very well with Win-10 and its 4th Gen cpu.

This is a basic guide of how to install Win-10 with an .ISO file, if you have a working operating system on the VM6630G desktop.

In Windows 8 or newer, you can upgrade or do a clean install of your desktop or laptop to Windows 10 by mounting the ISO file you just downloaded — just double-click the .ISO file and Windows will display the ISO as though it is a DVD drive.

Step 1: From here, you can install Windows 10. Just open Setup.exe, and the installer will open. Then choose to install Windows 10 in place, leaving your files and programs. All necessary data will transfer from the ISO to your computer, which will eventually restart to complete the installation.

Step 2: If you’re running Windows 7 or earlier, you can’t mount ISOs — instead, you can download Virtual Clone Drive and use that to install ISO files. Once you’ve got the drive mounted, the Windows 10 installer will open. Note that you also can try the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant to upgrade from older versions of Windows 10. We have a guide for that.

What are you trying to do? Is the VM6630G desktop operating and does it have an OS system, as just saying that you want to image it means nothing, give more details.

The Veriton M6630G models came originally with Windows 8 and the option to downrev to Windows 7, so it supports an UEFI boot. When you say “reimage”, what do you mean? The original Acer software load likely came with the machine on a DVD, but might have only been on a partition on the HDD that you could use to create a recovery DVD. With a machine that old what I would do is just install a clean Windows 10 on it, using the same flavor as the original OS (I believe that was Pro for most SKUs). You should create a Windows install flash drive, set the BIOS to UEFI mode, enable the F12 Boot Menu and then use F12 on the reboot to select the flash drive. Once you get to the screen in the installer where it asks where to install, delete any existing partitions then choose the full disk, unallocated space, as the install target. It should be good to go from there, though you might still have to install a driver or two once it's back up.

@StevenGen Sorry, I'm trying to reinstall windows 10 on it. Handling it off to my newphew so he can have a computer to start building on.

@billsey I'm trying to reinstall windows 10 on it I created a Windows 10 iso using Windows medial tool and rufus. The bios doesnt give me an option to set it to UEFI, I tired updating the firmware but can't find the update. I don't see an option to enable the F12 Boot Menu, I sent the settings to allow a bootable device and I set the bootable device at priorty in the boot start but nothing works. Every time, it just boots up to the regular Windows OS.

    try the following:

    1. insert a usb flash drive to your laptop or desktop computer. (be sure to backup the contents of your usb flash drive)
    2. download rufus , then run it.
    3. left click the drop down arrow next to the word "SELECT" and left click "DOWNLOAD" to download the original Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft. Watch the full tutorial
    4. after that, press START. wait for it to finish.
    5. close rufus, open your usb flash drive then run the setup executable.
    6. be sure to backup all the files in Drive C: or any drive partition where the operating system resides before doing step 5.
    7. be sure you have a good internet connection for the contents of the flash drive to be updated to the latest.
    8. as the setup runs, select delete all files, like you are installing a fresh operating system.
    9. wait and trust the process to complete.
    10. after that, download the latest official drivers from Acer.  https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/drivers-and-manuals?utm_source=community&utm_medium=sidesideicons&utm_campaign=assistancebyacer
    11. download the serial number detection utility/tool to obtain the device serial number or SNID
    12. download all the drivers, extract each, then install.
    13. hopefully, your problem will be solved.
    14. driver problems happens when you restore your operating system using the factory recovery image.
    15. after all the drivers installed and working properly. make an image of the whole drive using macrium reflect, aomei, easeus, minitool and many others. Watch the tutorial
    16. the purpose of making your own backup image of the whole drive is to shorten the restoration process in case of problems or malware attacks.
