Acer Spin5 513 Screen goes black &pulsates with Intel Iris Plus Drivers but works with Windows Basic

I just replaced my sp513-54N-74V2 screen with one from Amazon. It works with the BIOS screen and with Linux Fedora 37 from a bootable USB drive. My original setup in Windows (a W10 Pro updated to Win11 Pro) was working fine until the screen died. With the new screen the original loaded Intel IRIS Plus drivers make the screen pulsate about every second. If I plug in an HDMI monitor it works fine on the HDMI monitor but still a black screen on the laptop. If I delete/disable the INtel IRIS Plus drivers, the Windows Basic Driver works - touch works as does the stylus. I have tried the original drivers from Acer as well as the latest from Intel but all are the same. If I reboot the IRIS drivers are reinstalled. I deleted all Intel programs and disabled the IRIS driver. What can I do to get Windows 11 drivers for the Intel 10th gen IRIS Plus to work? The Windows basic driver is very lackluster and I do a lot of graphics work. It appears the cable and screen are OK as it works with the exception of the Intel driver. I've tried changing the hertz but no change. Thoughts?

go back to Windows 10 operating system and then update the drivers using windows update.

be sure to connect to LAN cable if your laptop cannot connect to WiFi when updating drivers.

That makes no sense. Everything is running OK except for the driver. There has to be a driver that can be installed. I was hoping someone from Acer monitors this and would offer a reasonable solution. Even Linux works but I have so much bought software on this machine otherwise I'd use it like my other boxes. I need the stylus to draw with.

Acer hasn't yet released Windows 11 drivers for the SP513-54N models, and you might now understand why. Go back to Windows 10 and wait for the drivers to be released. I expect Intel is working on them... When they have been fully tested Acer will post W11 drivers on their support page.

If you really need to get it somewhat working with W11 for some reason, try changing the resolution on the screen in Windows (you will have to have an external display connected with Extend). Try a resolution less than the native 2256x1504, like 1920x1080... Once it's got a working display you can use Windows Update to grab newer drivers then try resetting the resolution back to the default. I'm running W11 on mine with the default resolution and Intel's 31.0.101.2115 driver right now.

SO I did an Acronis restore from just before I updated to W11. Exact same problem. I looked at the properties of the Windows Basic Driver and it states 64Hz. Interesting as most computers show 60 and 48. I wonder if the replacement screen is somehow internally set for different hertz refresh rate? On W11 I had the same drivers you have. I know it's the driver as Linux works fine. My next foray is to run Linux and see what the settings are and try to implement on Windows. I even tried a Dell Intel package for W11 to no avail - same screen issues.

Does this show up in Device Manager at all?

It shows up. When it does the screen blinks uncontrollably per each second. I can uninstall it and it goes to Windows Basic Display driver (64 Hz) and works. If I reboot it reinstalls the Intel IRIS driver. I have to disable the Intel IRIS driver in order to keep the Windows Basic Driver so I can see the screen. I even went to Intel and downloaded vers 2115 and did a clean install but still the same. The windows Basic Driver will not let me change resolution nor will it display on a second monitor. This is why I want the IRIS driver to work. Very frustrating. One thing I did do was when I first got the machine I did an Acronis backup of the drive BEFORE first boot. I may try that. That way it will install everything from scratch like a first time use but it will still have the same IRIS driver.I was looking on their site for any beta drivers I could try. Now they are into IRIS XE and gen 11-13 so IRIS Plus is obsolete.

try using IObit Driver Booster or Driver Easy or Driver Talent to update the drivers (install all three)

It is sounding less like a driver issue and more like hardware. Intel is still updating drivers for those chips, but likely just doing minor fixes, nothing like what you are seeing.

Intel is working on the issue now. The problem lies in the driver because it works in Linux and with the Windows Basic Display Driver.
