Touchpad is completely gone, immediately stopped working after the update b115-m travel mate

So, have this old computer; a b115-m travel mate. Haven’t used it in a couple years, but my typical device went down and I decided to break it out. Had to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10 to use the tools I need for work; the touchpad immediately stopped working after the update. There is no touchpad or human interaction tab in my device manager, but there are now a bunch of ‘unknown devices.’ They ‘need further installation,’ but I can’t update their drivers, presumably because they’re unrecognized. I’m guessing that’s the touchpad. Also, the mouse properties window doesn’t show anything in the ELAB tab. Manually downloaded touchpad and chipset drivers, then tried to upgrade by BiOs. Restarted repeatedly. Obviously Fn+F7 didn’t work…trying to remember everything I did. Anyway, no idea what’s wrong or how to fix it, but I can’t afford to buy another computer atm. Anyone have any thoughts?

Show us a picture of Device Manager to see which unknown devices are listed, we might have to have you capture the hardware IDs on some of those. It's probably the chipset or IO drivers, but we should be able tell for sure from that data.

Any advice is profoundly welcome. I got a wired mouse to use with it and it’s functioning, but I’d like to get the touchpad working again

Was the touchpad ever working after downgrading to Win10?

based on the picture, you have many unknown devices

better connect to wifi if your laptop supports already or use LAN cable to update your drivers using Windows update

or go to Acer Drivers & Manuals - click here to download the necessary drivers to clear the device manager's unknown devices (you can type manually the laptop's SNID or serial number or you can use the serial number detection utility to do it for you)

much better if you use Windows 11

@JackE It was an upgrade from windows 7, and no, the touchpad stopped working immediately afterward.

@leonaip I already updated my drivers. As I said in the question, I manually downloaded and ran them, since it wouldn’t let me update the drivers for the unrecognized devices in the device manager

Downloaded, installed. The devices are recognized now, and the touchpad and human interaction settings and tools are all back. But the touchpad itself still doesn’t work. Played with all the settings, restarted a dozen times. No idea what’s wrong. Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I’ll just stick with this plug in mouse until I can afford to buy a new computer

If there are no red or yellow warnings, try pressing FN+F7 or F7 to try to turn it on. If still nothing, reboot. Then try it again.

go back to the original operating system that was installed when your touchpad was still functioning.... but if the same problem, touchpad is dead

As your device is old, I advise you to download the driverbooster program and try to update the drivers. If the problem continues, I advise updating the touchpad firmware and bios:
