Hi. I've a Acer Aspire A515-43 and 2 external monitors. Both monitors only support HDMI and VGA. The HDMI port on the laptop will drive 1 of the displays, but I can't get the other monitor on. I've tried a USB3-HDMI converter, a docking station (with a usb-c to usb3 converter), where the HDMI port on it didn't help, nor a USB-C to VGA converter.

Any advice?

Thanks!

The USB C Laptop Docking Station Dual Monitor and the SENGKOB USB to HDMI Adapter, USB 3.0/2.0 to HDMI 1080P should work perfectly, you must have done something wrong as also and remember that because USB lacks the powerful hardware you find in standard video interface technologies like DVI and DisplayPort, it is slower compared to those video interfaces and that is why its not working. Read this guide as it explains it all clearly here How Do I Connect My HDMI Monitor to a USB Port? Try a HDMI to 2x HDMI adaptor.

The USB 3.1 Port on your Aspire A515-43 is of the following specs:

    • Support USB 3.1 Gen 1 with transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps.
    • Delivers up to 3A at 5V DC for USB charging.
    • No support display out

good to know about the usb port not supporting display output. i know different usb port versions have different bandwidth limits, but why is it a particular usb port can be just unable to support display outputs? i dont believe any usb port version is just universally unable to support display outputs?

also i did get it to work with the hdmi adapter in a usb2.0 port. i had to disable my firewall and install the driver windows prompts with when plugging in the adapter to get it to work.
