I have an Acer AF314-42-R9YN (Swift 3) manufactured in 2020. I love this little guy. Unfortunately both CTRL keys have stopped responding. I have tried uninstalling the keyboard from Device Manager to reload the driver and restarting but it did not help. Perhaps its a hardware issue but it seems odd that both keys would fail (unless the keyboard design brings them in together at some point. No other keys are affected. I checked and online keyboard checker and that did not register these keys either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shutdown laptop nomrally. Unplug charger, Gently insert and press a paperclip into the battery pack disconnect pinhole on the bottom for about 30 seconds. Plug charger back in. Wait for battery charge LED to turn steady blue. Then turn laptop on again. Test keys

    Hi @FrancisRumsky

It appears to be a hardware issue with the keyboard, as uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard driver and restarting the device did not resolve the issue. Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Check if the keys are physically stuck or obstructed, and remove any debris if present.
    2. Try an external keyboard to determine if the issue is with the laptop or the keyboard itself.
    3. If the issue persists, try to replace the keyboard.

It's possible that the keyboard layout could have been changed accidentally, resulting in the keys not working as expected. Here are the steps to check if the keyboard layout has been changed:

    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Go to "Clock, Language, and Region"
    3. Click on "Language"
    4. Click on "Advanced settings."
    5. Go to "Overriding for default input method."
    6. Ensure that the correct keyboard layout is selected

If the keyboard layout has been changed, you can select the correct format and see if that resolves the issue with the Ctrl keys.If the laptop is still under warranty, it would be best to contact Acer customer support and request a repair or replacement of the keyboard. If the computer is no longer under contract, you may need a repair shop or a professional to replace the keyboard.

    Thanks
