Hello! I really want to upgrade my laptop's memory but I am wondering if I can get past this 12 GB limit.
I don't understand where this limit comes from, I cannot find it mentioned in the manual.
I've seen people mention that the BIOS won't see more than 12 GB, and other claiming there's no issue.
What gives?
There is no bios update, as what the processor can handle is limited by Acer.

Hi,
This model comes with either 4GB or 8GB onboard memory, I think your laptop comes with 8GB onboard memory and an empty slot, could you please download and install CPU-z, run it and find out whether you have 8GB onboard memory in Memory tab and SPD tab, if you have 8GB onboard memory, you can install another 8GB DDR4 RAM with same speed as the onboard RAM, avoid buying any memory with XMP profiles, like Kingston HyperX or Corsair modules.

Hello! There's no need for any software, I have opened it up a few times and I know that there are 4GB soldered on the motherboard, and only a single 4GB module inserted. Can I install a 16GB module? Why is the limit at 8GB?
The limit is only 12GB because of the chipset and what your laptop bios allows, you can upgrade the 1x slot to a 1x 8GB at DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8/1Rx16 • PC4-25600 Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM - CT8G4SFRA32A
OK, but is there no bios update that could get past this limitation? A 64-bit processors should be able to access 2TB of RAM in theory.
There is no bios update, as what the processor can handle is limited by Acer.
